METERS & TIMERS

Please read all of the information on this page carefully. Meters are complete units which contain a meter case, coin / token acceptor, timer and coin box. If you request a timer, you will not receive the meter case, coin / token acceptor or coin box.

There are 3 basic styles of meters; HM5, HM6 and push button (non-coin). Each unit has the ability to take any timer that we offer.

Below is our complete range of meter styles and timers that will suit every need for a timed vend. We have made many different applications involving water and energy conservation for various markets.

Each meter style is capable of adding the Aqua-Miser shower kit. These meters can be used with contact relays, however, Monarch does not carry these items. You will have to check with your local electrical supply store.

HM6 SERIES METERS

The meter cases are made with security in mind. They feature a heavy guage welded steel construction, available in black powder coat or brushed stainless finish.

The coin / token acceptor is a drop / roll down mechanism that can accomodate a wide variety of sizes of round tokens or coins.

The coin box locks on all four sides and is enclosed in a vault that separates the coins from the timer and coin mechanism area. The coin box holds approximately 700 coins/tokens.

This meter is serviced from the front, allowing it to be recessed into a wall and still allow complete service.

HM6 DIMENSIONS: 4″ wide X 13 7/8″ tall X 9″ deep Complete unit weighs approximately 17 lbs.

3 timer styles available: single shot, accumulating, and accumulating with buzzer in 24, 120, and 230 volt A/C.

Add an “Aqua-Miser shower kit” which includes valve and transformer for shower applications.

HM5 SERIES METERS

The meter cases are made with security in mind. They feature a heavy gauge welded steel construction, available in black powder coat only.

The HM5 series meters come with a push/pull style coin/token acceptor. The Model 444 accepts 1 coin or token that lays down flat. The Vertical 8 accepts up to 8 coins or standard round tokens.

The coin box locks on all four sides and is enclosed in a vault that separates the coins from the timer and coin mechanism area. The coin box holds approximately 400 coins/tokens.

The service door is accessed from the rear (opposite the coin/token acceptor and coin box).

HM5 dimensions: 4″ wide X 6″ tall X 11″ deep Complete unit weighs approximately 15 lbs.

3 timer styles available: single shot, accumulating, and accumulating with buzzer in 24, 120, and 230 volt A/C.

Add an “Aqua-Miser shower kit” which includes valve and transformer for shower applications.

PUSH BUTTON METER

FOR WHEN YOU WANT TO CONSERVE RESOURCES, BUT DON’T WANT TO CHARGE!

The push button meter is a great way to control usage of precious resources without using coins or tokens. It is made of a solid NEMA rated, water-proof plastic based material. It is water-tight and easily mounted in any location.

The push button meter has an optional lock-out system to regulate the times when users are able to utilize the resources as well as help to control unwanted abuse or misuse.

Dimensions: 3 11/16″ wide X 5 1/8″ tall X 3 3/16″ deep Complete unit weighs approximately 1.5 lbs.

3 timer styles available: single shot, accumulating, and accumulating with buzzer in 24, 120, and 230 volt A/C.

Add an “Aqua-Miser shower kit” which includes valve and transformer for shower applications.

TIMERS

Timers are available in 24, 120, and 230 volt A/C.

Single shot timers (part number ends in “SS”) can be set to accept from 1 to 7 coins/tokens to start. Timer runs for set time and then turns off. Customer must wait for time to expire before more coins can be added.

Accumulating timers can be set for 1 to 7 coins to start. Each additional coin, after initial set of coins, will add more time. As long as coins are added before time expires, time will continue to accumulate. (For example: If timer is set so that each coin is worth 1 minute, with 4 coins to start; customer must insert 4 coins to start timer, giving them 4 minutes. Each additional coin inserted before time expires, will add 1 additional minute.)

Optional output buzzers will sound when there is little time remaining, alerting the customer to either add more coins, or let time expire. 15 second increment timers have a 1 minute warning. 2 minute increment timers have a 2 minute warning.

15 second increment timers (part number contains “-1”) – each coin can only be worth an increment of 15 seconds. For example, a coin could be worth 15 seconds, 30 seconds, or 15 minutes 45 seconds etc.; up to 31 minutes 45 seconds.

2 minute increment timer (part number contains “-2”) – each coin can only be worth an increment of 2 minutes. For example, a coin can be worth 2, 4 or 36 minutes etc. up to 254 minutes, but not 5 minutes, as it is not an increment of 2.

There is quite a bit of hype about various “certifications” on shower equipment.

First, in most applications, UL/CSA listings are REQUIRED only on systems rated to operate at 36 Volts or more. Listings for lesser voltages is voluntary.

All of the components in Monarch meters are UL/CSA listed.

Any company offering such components can offer no more than that, as the quality of the installation will determine the true safety of the units.

Secondly, There is no central clearing or certifying agency for ADA compliance. According to offices within the Federal and State Justice department who handle challenges under ADA, the greatest concern is with how the installation is made. For example, if the units are installed in areas inaccessible to those in wheelchairs, then there is no ADA compliance. No Manufacturer can claim to be fully ADA compliant unless the Manufacturer is also accepting responsibility for the installer.

Monarch has produced meters for use in showers and other coin metered applications since 1903.

There are units in service today that were originally sold with electro-mechanical timers in the 60’s, long before many thought that conserving water and minimizing waste in showers was of any interest at all. The recent addition of the HM6 and the accumulative timers, as well as the up coming introduction of an in-wall unit, demonstrate Monarch’s commitment to serving this need. Monarch units are in use in many countries as well as North American locations.
